Distributed Acoustic Sensing
Based on distributed acoustic sensing
- Prisma Photonics
- uses fiber optic cables as an acoustic sensor to detect different conditions (unsure what conditions)
- Israeli company
- Optasense
- same as prisma photonics

Fiber-optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) systems work by pulsing light into a fiber and measuring the backscattered light along the fiber length. An acoustic pressure wave that contacts the cable will create a small strain in the fiber and change the backscatter profile. The strain can be measured at surface, depth-matched using the speed of light in the fiber, and converted back into an acoustic signal.
- they send a pulse and then check to see what kind of light is sent back early
- that's what backscattering is

- LIDAR and weather measurements
- monitors transmission lines
- Silixa
- DAS for oil and gas

- Buying up all the smaller DAS companies, like Silixa and Optasense

- they've got a slick spectral analyzer for vibrations, but it's measuring vibrations and not noise
